Project Description

Parent rearing

In the 21st week of their lives the pullets and cockerels are transferred from the breeding farms to the parent farms. This is where the hatching eggs are laid, from which the chicks emerge. The parent animals live exclusively indoors. The parent stock live exclusively in farms where they can move around freely.

Elterntierhaltung

Cockerels and pullets share the scratching and feeding area, the hens can withdraw to the laying nests to lay their eggs.

The eggs slide through the nest floor onto conveyor belts, which transfer them into the housing anteroom for grading.

All eggs are marked while they are still in the housing. This lays the cornerstone for continuous traceability of the finished product.

During the laying period of around 34 weeks, a hen lays approx. 150 eggs, from which around 120 chicks hatch out.
